Chemin de Fer Essential Basics – Part 2
We continue with our article on the essential details of black jack. In Part One we reviewed the approach of blackjack, taking another card, standing and how to double down. In part 2 we will discuss splitting, surrendering and insurance.
Split: if a gambler is given two cards of the same value (2 8’s for instance) the gambler may separate them to create 2 different hands. If you decide to divide your hand you will need to lay a new wager equivalent to the original bet.
Surrender: Some casinos will let players to surrender the cards they have been dealt along with fifty percent of the initial bet they made prior to the dealer checking their hand. Once again it is essential to inquire with the croupier for clarification on the blackjack table rules or check the game rules area on the internet betting house you’re betting on.
Insurance: When the dealers face up card is an Ace gamblers have the ability to purchase insurance. You’ll lay half of the initial bet before the dealer checks his cards; if the croupier has black jack you will come away with a win on the insurance bet but still lose the original amount. Unfortunately if the dealer does not have chemin de fer the player loses the insurance. It’s a chance but one that’s absolutely worth it, if used as part of a clever tactic.
As soon as a competitor has stayed or busted by exceeding 21 the croupier will reveal his/her hand and will continue to deal themselves cards until one of the following events has appeared: if he has achieved 17, a croupier will not typically take another card due to the likelihood of busting, if they have drawn 21 or if they have busted.
